FM 2004 closed by downed power line

Published February 21, 2012

HITCHCOCK — A stretch of FM 2004 between state Highway 6 and Interstate 45 was closed after a truck pulled down a low-hanging power line Tuesday afternoon. The road was opened backed to traffic after about 45 minutes.

A truck was traveling along FM 2004 when its trailer snagged the low hanging power line at about 12:45 p.m., Hitchcock Police Chief Clay Kennelly said.

The live wire was down across the road. The chief said emergency crews waited for Center Point Energy crews to come and de-energize the power line.

No one was hurt in the accident, Kennelly said.

The road re-opened at about 1:30 p.m.
