Banquet to honor Giles’ education contributions

Published February 21, 2012

LA MARQUE — The inaugural Lee and Sarah Giles Scholarship Banquet will be at 6 p.m. March 3 at La Marque High School, 300 Vauthier St.

“Success Through the Lives of Lee and Sarah Giles” is the theme.

Students whose lives have been touched by the Giles’ will speak, as well as other community leaders.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., with live entertainment and a silent auction.

There also will be a dinner and a live auction for prizes.

The banquet is in honor of the couple, who have dedicated their lives to the education of children on the mainland, more specifically, the children of the La Marque Independent School District, where Sarah Giles was an educator and former school board member.

All those tutored through Greater Barbours Chapel or at their home, students taught by Sarah Giles at College of the Mainland, teachers mentored by her at the University of Houston-Clear Lake and the community are invited to attend.

The committee also will accept words of encouragement from attendees and those who won’t be able to attend through Friday by emailing Regenia Randall at gsmbc_rrandall(at)msn.com.

Tickets are $25 per person.

All proceeds will be used for scholarships for high school and college students.

Call Randall, 409-986-5453.
