Plenty to see, do at Moody Gardens

With gas prices near $4 a gallon and air travel more expensive than ever, many people are staying closer to home when it comes to vacation.

Herman Turner, Sr.

Herman Turner, Sr., 88, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Atrium Medical Center in Houston, TX.

Herman was born May 6, 1923, to Spencer and Alma Duro Turner in Opelousas, Louisiana. He was baptized at an early age and relocated to Texas. After moving to Galveston, he along with his wife, Mattie became members of the Live Oak Baptist Church. He was very active in the ministry until his health failed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Mattie B. Aaron Turner; daughter, Gladys Marie Turner; sisters, Leona Turner, Herlina Thibodeaux, and Alberta Turner.

Loved ones left to cherish memories are his three sons, Herman, Jr. of Texas City, Herbert Ray of Galveston and Spencer Turner (Yolanda) of Richmond, Texas; five grandchildren, Anthony Sr., of Houston, Shardey of Houston, Ahlana, Kiana and Amaya all of Richmond; one great grandson Anthony, Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 9 AM on Saturday, February 11, 2012, followed by a service celebrating his life at 11:00 am at Live Oak Baptist Church, Pastor Vernon L Baines officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
