FM 2094 reopens after gas line rupture

Published February 3, 2012

LEAGUE CITY — FM 2094 reopened at about 10 a.m. after it was closed for seven hours because of a gas line rupture. The road was closed from Twin Oaks to Enterprise near the Fairway Apartments on the city's east side.

The gas line break actually happened at about 3 a.m., League City spokeswoman Kristi Wyatt said. There were no calls for evacuations in the area and no reports of injuries, Wyatt said.

It's believed a work crew installing a utility pole struck the gas line causing the break.

FM 2094 is the main link between League City and Kemah to state Highway 146.

Clear Creek school officials said several buses did not run Friday morning due to the street closure, district spokeswoman Elaina Polsen said.

Those buses included route No. 13 to Clear Creek High School, No. 5 to Clear Falls High School, No. 9 to Bayside Intermediate, No. 16 to Clear Creek Intermediate, No. 3 to Hyde Elementary and No. 8 to Stewart Elementary.

Students would not be penalized for being late for class, Polsen said.
