Simon Henry Lewis

Simon Henry Lewis “Nub”, 56, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at UTMB Hospital.

Simon was born March 2, 1955, in St. Martinsville, LA to the union of Lang, Sr. and Emma Bell Roberts Lewis. He attended Holy Rosary Catholic School and later attended public school in Galveston, where he graduated from Ball High in 1974. He also attended Prairie View A&M College. He was a longshoreman with I.L.A. Local 20, for over 38 years.

He was preceded in death by her parents, Lang and Emma Lewis; grandmothers, Eurize Roberts and Della Fielding; aunt, Marietta Jackson; and uncle, John Leo Roberts.

Simon survived by his only daughter, Merian Harvey; grandchildren, Amauri Wyatt, Jalen, Jazmyne, and Jordyn Morris; sisters, Julian Lewis Woodard (Michael), Mechele Adams (Ricky); brothers, Lang Lewis, Jr. (Diane), James Lewis (Wyzell), and Chris Lewis (Jackie); nieces, Ta-Tanisha Green (Jerry), Sharonda, Christal, Katherine and Gabriel Lewis; nephews, Chris, Chad, Jamarcus, Anthony, Jamerson, and Matthew Lewis; aunt, Jerlene Herron; and a host of other relatives, friends and colleagues.

Visitation will begin at 11AM on Saturday, February 4th, followed by funeral service at 1:00 PM at Avenue L Baptist Church, Rev. E .R. Johnson, Pastor, Rev. Kerry W. Tillmon officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
