With gas prices near $4 a gallon and air travel more expensive than ever, many people are staying closer to home when it comes to vacation.

Willie Mae Davis

Willie Mae Davis was born March 30, 1930 to Timothy Davis, Sr. and Idesia Franklin Davis who both preceded her in death.

She was born in Allen Hurst, Texas. She attended school on the LeTulle Farm and later relocated to Bay City, TX.

She accepted Christ at an early age while living in Allen Hurst with her parents. Upon moving to Bay City she united with Enterprise Missionary Baptist Church.

She worked for many years as a cook at Walgreen Drug store in Bay City. In 1975 she moved to Houston, TX. There she was employed in the Houston Independent School District as a cook. She retired in 1996. In 2006 she moved to Galveston, TX to be close to her daughter due to failing health. Prior to Ike (2008) they moved to the LaMarque/Texas City area.

Preceding her in death: son Harold Lee Davis; three sisters Pearlie Estella Powell, Bessie Mae Burnett, and Nettie B. Davis; six brothers James Lee, Johnnie, Timothy Jr., Iris, A.D. and Burdie Davis.



Her earthly journey came quietly to an end on Thursday January 26, 2012 at the Reagent Care Center in League, TX.



She is survived by her daughter Donna L. Davis-Simpson, son-in-law Larian Simpson, grandson Larian Donnell Simpson, and sister Carrie Southall, two grand children (Crystal and Harold Davis), four great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

With bowed heads and humble hearts, the family of Willie Mae Davis wish to extend words of thanks for your calls, prayers and all expressions of kindness extended to us during our time of loss of our loved one. We further wish to thank Amed Hospice nurses for their compassionate around the clock nursing care rendered to our loved one during her final days, hours, minutes and seconds here with us.

Celebration services will be held on Saturday February 4, 2012, Eleven o’clock am at Mother Zion Baptist Church 2420 Ave B Bay City, Texas.
