Group, clinic reach out to stroke patients

GALVESTON — The University of Texas Medical Branch helps patients and their families cope with the major life changes as a result of a stroke.

SANTA FE — Mrs. Mary E. (Marie) Lynam, 89, passed from this life Tuesday evening, January 24, 2012, in Santa Fe.

Born June 30, 1922 in Nottingham, England, Mrs. Lynam had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1969, previously of Clear Lake Shores. She served in the Women’s Land Army in Britain during World War II, and was recently honored with a medal and written commendation from Queen Elizabeth and the British government for her service. Mrs. Lynam came to America as a war bride in 1946, and began her life with her husband, O.B., which would end after 40 years with his death in 1984. She was a longtime member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church and spent her life creating a loving home for her family.

In addition to O.B. she was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Maggie Cripwell; son, Robert D’Lacy Lynam and brothers, Robert and Frank Cripwell.

She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Lauletta and husband, John of North Palm Beach, FL, Pamela Fleming and husband, Greg of San Leon; daughter-in-law, Patricia Lynam of Hot Springs, AR; grandchildren, Jennifer Lindley (Jonathan), Michael Thompson, Christopher Thompson, Todd Lumsden (Tristan), Holly Lumsden (Andy), John Lauletta, Jr. (Kelli), Nancy Bowen (Brian); 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, James and John Cripwell of England, David Cripwell of Australia, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be conducted 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 17, 2012, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church followed by a reception in the parish hall. A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
