Group, clinic reach out to stroke patients

GALVESTON — The University of Texas Medical Branch helps patients and their families cope with the major life changes as a result of a stroke.

Daniel Karales, 84, of Kirbyville, Texas died Thursday, January 26, 2012 at his home.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 28, at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Kirbyville. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 30, at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.

A native of Detroit, Michigan and former resident of League City, he had lived in Kirbyville 18 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Light Karales; step daughter, Linda Odom; a special friend, Abel Alvarez; a brother, George Karales, a sister, Margaret Sny; and special nieces and nephews, Nina and Craig O’Sullivan, Harry and Christi Miller, Crystal and David Evans, Ryan Odom, Kurt and Rhonda Miller, and Paul Sny.

Memorials may be given to Lakes Area Hospice in Jasper or to the National Arbor Foundation.
