Group, clinic reach out to stroke patients

GALVESTON — The University of Texas Medical Branch helps patients and their families cope with the major life changes as a result of a stroke.

GALVESTON—Inez Petteway, 73, received her reward of eternal rest on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at her residence surround by her family.

A service celebrating her life will be held 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at the Progressive Baptist Church with Pastor William Stevens officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in Lakeview Cemetery.

Inez was born February 11, 1938, in Karnack, Texas to Eddie and Bernice Harris Saxton. She was retired from UTMB Hospital. She loved quilting and cooking. She was a member of Progressive Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, served with the Mission and on the food service committee. She was the neighborhood mother and was loved by all including her beloved Barack.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norman, a son, a sister, a daughter in law and sister in law.

She leaves with precious memories, her sons, Leonard Ray Jones Sr. (Stacey), James Petteway (Nicole), Marcus Petteway, Sr. (LaVonia) and Marcus Jr.; daughter, Linda (Walter) Jones, Beatrice Jones; devoted grandchildren, Larry, Leonard, Jr., Brandi, and Raivion Jones and James Petteway IV; host of other grandchildren; brother, Percy Saxton; devoted niece, Kim Saxton Gentry; devoted friends, Joyce Harris-Petteway, Hazel Florence, Annie Mae Charles, Ella Mae Dergin Mary Jo Milburn, Georgia Fontenot and Ella Mae Tucker; godchildren, Patrice Countee, Dee Dee Demerson, Ron Thompson, Sharon Ballard, Edward Davis; stepdaughters, Trina Batiste, Joyce Dennis; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
