Group, clinic reach out to stroke patients

GALVESTON — The University of Texas Medical Branch helps patients and their families cope with the major life changes as a result of a stroke.

On November 8, 2011, five days after her 94th birthday, Carrie Bell Lyons answered the call of her Father from laborer to reward.

Carrie Bell was born in Alleyton, Texas to Albert and Emma Carroll. She moved to Galveston where she matriculated through West District schools and was a proud 1934 graduate of Central High School. She was a faithful member of the Mt. Pilgrim church for over 85 years, serving in many areas and as church treasurer and with the Mission.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Arthur Lyons.

She leaves with cherish memories of a well lived life, her god children, Janet Washington, Warren Tillmon, Jr. (Judith), Rev. Kevin Tillmon (Linda), Kimberly Davis (Brian) and Rev. Kerry Tillmon (Eva); host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including her neighbor, Jean Henderson and family.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service celebrating her life at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 14th at the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church with Pastor Lorenzo Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas
