Margo Markowitz and Mary Ann Salch are heading up this year’s Serious Fun at Saltwater Grill.
This special event presents food, fellowship and a seriously fun silent auction that will feature hand-painted plant stands, child’s table and chair sets, hand-painted dessert plates and more handcrafted painted items for raffle.
Putting hands to clay, paint and wood are artists Merri Edwards, Catherine Garrison, Paula Glenn, Laura Hyatt, Stephanie Maxwell, Melanie Patton, Shanna Pennington, Sarah Piel, Kathy Van Dewalli, Judy Webb, Libbi Weber and Virginia Weberll.
The sponsor is none other than Saltwater Grill’s Johnny Smecca, Joey Smecca and Danny Hart and benefiting Serious Fun Children’s Programming at The 1894 Opera House.
It’s coming up fast, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sept. 21 at the Saltwater Grill, 2017 Postoffice St.
RSVP by Friday by calling 800-821-1894 or 409-765-1894 or emailing tickets(at)thegrand.com.
Tarts For The Arts
The highly acclaimed Tarts for the Arts held their annual-ish committee meeting to decide which, if any, future performances they might make for some art-worthy cause.
Tarts-in-training Mary Jo Naschke and Carolyn Gaido were there along with professional director June Terry, of the “Best Little Whorehouse” fame.
All enjoyed the seafood luncheon served up by Tiger Lil Elise Stephens aka “The Laziest Gal in Town.”
Also at the bayside snazzienda of the estimable chairwoman “Queen Laura” Lyda Ann Thomas were “Big T Marie” Vittoria Abercrombie and “Mademoiselle ZuZu” (or is that Zoo-Zoo?) Sue Moore.
Cockeyed Zona is the Diva herself and Tart Agent Trey Click, of the Parrot, made a cameo appearance — properly attired by the professionals at the Galveston Costume Co.
