Group, clinic reach out to stroke patients

GALVESTON — The University of Texas Medical Branch helps patients and their families cope with the major life changes as a result of a stroke.

Jessica Ann Rice of League City and Stephen Daniel Maxwell of Galveston were united in marriage at 7 p.m., June 25, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Galveston.

A reception was held at Moody Gardens in the Francis Moody Ballroom. On the eve of the wedding a rehearsal dinner was held at the Galveston Country Club.

The bride is the daughter of George and Carol Sutherland of League City and Steven and Jill Rice of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Jessica is the granddaughter of Wilbur and the late Betty Rice of Lake Charles, Louisiana; William and Margaret Sutherland of Florence, Alabama; and the late Clarence and Rosemary Miller of Port Neches.

The groom is the son of Harry and Mary Maxwell Jr. of Galveston. Stephen is the grandson of the late John “Buddy” and Maxine Mullen of Galveston and the late Harry and Mary Maxwell Sr. of Galveston.

Clare Sutherland, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Alison Stevens, Nikki Salganik, Parisa Safarzadeh, Brandee Mire, Kimberly McFarland, Stephanie Maxwell, and Kara Hawthorn.

Harry Maxwell, father of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Anthony Jensen, Rocky Sullivan, Matthew Cristelli, Beau Yarbrough, Clayton Sutherland, Kyle Hopkins, and David Bates.

Junior Groomsmen were Tyler Breaux and Dylan Breaux. The ring bearer was Steven Rice II, brother of the bride.

Jessica is a graduate of Clear Creek High School and Texas A&M University. She is a teacher for the Clear Creek Independent School District.

Stephen is a graduate of Ball High School and Texas A&M University. He is a Credit Analyst for Frost Bank.

The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in St. Lucia and now reside in League City.
