Suspect sought in fatal stabbing

BACLIFF — Sheriff’s investigators are searching for the man who fled the scene of a fatal stabbing this morning.

Deputies were called at 2:28 a.m. to the 4400 block of 17th Street in Bacliff and found a man in his middle 30s dead inside a mobile home, Maj. Ray Tuttoilmondo, a Galveston County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said.

The man apparently died from an undetermined number of stab wounds, possibly inflicted by a relative, Tuttoilmondo said.

Witnesses told deputies the man and another person were involved in an argument that escalated into a violent confrontation, Tuttoilmondo said.

“The suspect left the scene immediately after the stabbing, and deputies are following potential leads of his whereabouts,” Tuttoilmondo said in a statement. “Detectives are interviewing witnesses to uncover events that led to the fatal stabbing.”

Authorities withheld the deceased man’s name until his relatives were informed of the incident.

Crime scene investigators were on the scene this morning, searching for evidence related to the apparent homicide, Tuttoilmondo said.

“The precise nature and extent of his injuries are as yet unknown, pending an autopsy by the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office,” Tuttoilmondo said.
