“Ace Lacewig Bug Detective — The Big Swat,” by David Biedrzycki

Bugsy was the star player on the Stinkbug team. He loved his bat that he won when he was a little boy in the Li’l Lava Orphanage and didn’t think he could hit without it.

His bat was stolen. Madame Damselfly asked Detective Ace Lacewig to find the bat.

Detective Lacewig talked with a lot of bugs and the bat was found just in time for Bugsy to bat in the big game.

He saw the bat was cracked and heard Madame Damselfly scream “It’s not the size of the bat,” then he remembered, “It’s the size of your heart.”

He hit the ball hard and won the game.

This book is all about bugs and baseball. Best for boys, not princesses.

“Chalk,” by Bill Thomson

This is an amazing book. It really encourages imagination and play.

It’s all pictures and you make up stories to go with them.

Everyone loved it. We had many good stories with this one.

— Jonathan Clark

“Are We There Yet?,” by Harriet Ziefert

This book was so funny because they kept saying “Are we there yet?” and I could read it.

— Lauren Burns

“Henry and Mudge and the Big Sleepover,” by Cynthia Rylant

I like how there’s a picture about someone telephoning Henry. And I like actually how Mudge was carrying Henry’s sleeping bag.

I like how they are playing games. And I love how they’re throwing the dog’s popcorn.

And I loved how Mudge picked a pepperoni piece off the pizza.

I like how everyone sleeps with their dog but Mudge needed his own sleeping bag since he was so big.

“Merry Christmas, Geronimo!,” by Geronimo Stilton

Geronimo is a mouse who writes for a newspaper for his living. His house has a fire, but then they repair it. After that, they have a Christmas party. Maybe you will like this book. Have fun reading this book.

“My Pet Ferret,” by Lynn Hamilton

I don’t have a ferret. But I love them.

— Hope Luper

“To the Beach,” by Thomas Docherty

Great fun. Where to next?

— Leonardo Cano

“Ten Naughty Little Monkeys,” by Suzanne Williams

This is my favorite book of all the ones mommy got me. It makes me laugh because their mommy is always calling the doctor because they are always getting hurt because they are monkeys. My mommy and daddy call me a monkey. I love this book.

— Kyle Hall

“Twilight,” by Stephenie Meyer

This is the first book in the “Twilight” series.

My mom is making me read the books before I watch the movies.

My reward for reading each book is seeing the movie that is made from that book.

I am glad she wants me to do this — these rock.

— Briaunna Deelah

“Voyage of Turtle Rex,” by Kurt Cyrus

I liked this book because it shows the difference between the years a turtle has passed and how turtles have changed over the years but still do the save process of life.

Which makes it really interesting because it’s since the dinosaurs first set foot on the Earth.
