Lockdown at La Marque schools lifted

LA MARQUE — A lockdown of three La Marque school campuses as police chase some burglary suspects was lifted about 12 p.m., school district officials said.

La Marque Middle School, Highlands Elementary and the district's Early Childhood Learning Center were on lockdown, district spokeswoman Clarissa Silva said. The lockdown order was issued after La Marque police informed the district that officers were chasing three burglary suspects in the areas near the school campuses.

Police arrested the suspects at about noon, the district said.

The La Marque school district police department had extra officers stationed at each campus, Silva said.
