TEXAS CITY The Texas City Stings might have silenced their preseason critics for a night, with a 25-0 home win over C.E. King on Friday.
The Texas City defense allowed only 124 offensive yards, as the Stings scored 23 points in the second quarter en route to a 25-0 victory.
The Stings Ryan Harper led the offensive attack with 58 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He completed 4-of-5 passes for 48 yards. Harper scored 9- and 19-yard touchdowns in the first and second quarters.
The Stings Deshaun Rawls also scored on a 2-yard run. He led the ground attack with 21 carries on 88 yards.
Ryan Higgins recorded a safety for Texas City in the third quarter.

Santa Fe 35, Barbers Hill 7
The Indians gave up a touchdown on the first play of the game but dominated from there on.
Quarterback Garet Davidson accounted for three touchdowns, two through the air on one on the ground. He was 11-for-13 passing for 132 yards.
Joey Smith had 80 receiving yards and caught both Davidson touchdowns from 8 and 54 yards out.
Star running back Joseph Walton added 85 yards on the ground and a score.
Cagen Rose sealed the deal in the fourth quarter with a 46-yard interception return for a touchdown. He also had a 42-yard run.
The Santa Fe defense limited Barbers Hill to just 216 yards and five first downs.

Deer Park 28, Dickinson 16
The Gators allowed a blocked field goal to be returned for a touchdown and found themselves playing from behind the rest of the game.
Charles Barkmann tossed a couple of touchdowns in his debut for the Gators, one to Dittrich Bunton for 6 yards and one to Colby Ginn for 5 yards. Mario Garcia also had a field goal in the second quarter.
However, Dickinson was shut out in the second half.
Deer Park had only 138 yards of total offense, but scored on the blocked field goal, an interception and a fumble recovery.

Hitchcock 32, Clear Falls JV 0
The Bulldogs rolled to victory in Clear Falls first game in school history.
Deven Molis threw for 301 yards and two touchdowns in the win as Hitchcock rolled up 492 yards of total offense.
DaWayne Barnes had 134 yards receiving and a touchdown, while Thurman Harrison added 97 yards and a score.
Rushing, Jamarcus McCardell had 10 carries for 90 yards and a score. Eddie Goodman added 68 yards on the ground, and Michael Bond and Molis added touchdowns.
Jeffrey Wright also had an interception for Hitchcock.

Lutheran South 20, Bay Area Christian 7
The Broncos committed four turnovers, including one that was returned for a touchdown, to have their season opener spoiled.
Bay Areas defense had a solid night, holding Lutheran to 239 total yards, but a 20-0 halftime deficit was too much to overcome.
Bay Areas lone score came on a 13-yard pass by Cody Howard to Evan Wilkerson late in the fourth quarter.
Howard threw for 224 yards, while Wilkerson had 97 yards receiving. Jake Morgenroth led the way on the ground with 61 yards.

The Bucs had a tough night in their season opener.
