LA MARQUE — A man accused of leaving the scene of a wreck and leading police on a slow-speed chase remained jailed on $1 million bond, authorities said Monday.
Jordan Ramirez, 23, of Hitchcock, was charged with failing to stop and render aid, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and driving while intoxicated, La Marque police said.
Ramirez was accused of being in a collision with a sport utility vehicle driven by a Texas City woman, 35, at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Oak Street, Danielle Herman, a police spokeswoman, said.
The woman’s injuries and damage to her vehicle were minor, Herman said.
Ramirez was accused of leaving the scene at a slow speed, Herman said. Police found Ramirez in the 1300 block of Oak Street, she said.
Ramirez was accused of trying to flee again as officers approached, Herman said. However, police quickly stopped the automobile.
Ramirez remained at the Galveston County Jail on Monday. Each charge carried a $250,000 bond, according to jail records. Police allege Ramirez’s charge of driving while intoxicated was his third such charge, Herman said.
