Designer adds personality to dresses

GALVESTON — Designer Miwa Sakashita, whose elegant gowns are known for simple lines, adds some personality of each duchess in the Knights of Momus Ball to her gowns.

Most county students head back to class today

Today marks the first day of classes for most of the county’s public school students. The new school year not only welcomes new students in new classrooms, but also three new schools plus the reopening of one of the county’s historic campuses.

School district officials remind drivers that school zones will be enforced today, and many of the cities in the area ban mobile phone use within school zones.
