Designer adds personality to dresses

GALVESTON — Designer Miwa Sakashita, whose elegant gowns are known for simple lines, adds some personality of each duchess in the Knights of Momus Ball to her gowns.

Clear Creek 3, Stratford 0

The Lady Wildcats continued their strong start, beating rival Stratford on the road in straight sets, 25-21, 28-26, 25-19.

Natalie Piznar led Creek (6-3) with 19 digs and zero defensive errors. Rachel Hobaugh (six aces, nine kills, 14 digs), Courtney Richardson (31 assists) and Ashley Smith (four aces, 13 kills) also contributed.

Clear Springs 3, Clear Falls 0

The Lady Chargers beat new volleyball program Clear Falls, 25-13, 25-14, 25-17.

Samone Boyd had seven kills.

Friendswood 3, Clear Brook 1

The Lady Mustangs got their first victory of the season, 25-20, 23-25, 26-24, 25-20. Coach Jerry Linch called it an important step for the team.

Jill Bergeson (18 digs, 20 kills) and Jasmine Casey (19 kills, 20 digs) led the way for Friendswood (1-2).

Shawna Spozio (10 kills), Kaelan O’Neill (18 digs), Alex Beaver (18 assists) and Shannon Ellis (seven blocks) also contributed.

Santa Fe 3, Needville 2

The Lady Indians held off a Needville rally to win their second five-game match, 25-23, 25-12, 17-25, 22-25, 15-9. It was Santa Fe’s (4-1) third five-game match this year.

Katie Marabella (27 kills, 14 digs), Tiffany Thomas (11 kills, four blocks), Lindsey Martindale (26 assists) and Kelli Hadley (16 digs) all helped.
