BIKE Fest rolls along all month

GALVESTON Galveston Island BIKE Fest opened Saturday at Saengerfest Park in Galveston.

The monthlong event features four weekends of festivities to raise money for an after-school program for local youths that aims to foster responsibility by linking cognitive development and physical fitness.

Bicycles were judged in antique, custom, decorated and muscle/low rider categories.

The BIKE Fest continues with a bar tour Saturday, a fun run Aug. 21 and a bike parade Aug. 28.
