Surfing champ Faulkner to sign autographs

GALVESTON — The surf’s up at Moody Gardens this summer. Kelly Slater’s “Ultimate Wave Tahiti” in 3-D is showing in the IMAX 3-D theater and Quiksilver team member Morgan Faulkner will be here today to sign autographs and speak with guests about big wave surfing.

The two-time national title-holding surfer Faulkner will begin signing autographs at 6 p.m. today in the Moody Gardens Visitor’s Center.

After the signing, he will introduce the 7:25 p.m. showing of Slater’s “Ultimate Wave Tahiti” in 3-D in the IMAX Theater and announce the winner of a Channel Islands Surfboard signed by nine-time World Champion surfer Slater.

Those with Moody Gardens Annual Memberships are automatically entered to win this surfboard, and there is still time to purchase a membership for a chance to win.

Faulkner has surfed all over the world, including favorite spots Teahupo’o in Tahiti and Pipeline in Hawaii. Among his many accomplishments are winning 24 Texas state titles and two national titles.
