Temple Beth Tikvah has become a minor record producer of sorts with the release of its new CD containing 10 songs from its popular Friday Night Chai services. Chai means alive in Hebrew.
Adding music represents a growing trend in Jewish weekly worship, Beth Tikvahs cantorial soloist, Michael Kahn, said.
Virtually all of the required and additional elements of the service are now sung, he said. The music is set to contemporary tunes, and the congregants are encouraged to sing along.
Kahn, along with fellow musicians Jon Zelon, Dee Dee Dochen and Stuart Eisen are featured on the album, which has been given to all attendees and also is being used to help introduce the temple to new and prospective members.
Beth Tikvah is at 1241 Park Shadows Trail in Clear Lake.

Double-check your calendar for this one. Nida Kennon, of Living Water Pentecostal, insists it is Christmastime, of a sort.
At 11 a.m. Sunday at 310 Grand Ave. in Bacliff, the church will have Christmas in July.
Come celebrate with us as we worship Jesus Christ, the one who made it all possible, Kennon said. And we will be giving away presents and having hot dogs and hamburgers afterward. Come experience a little bit of winter during this hot summer and while youre here meet friends, new or old.
