Rev. Johnnie Ray McDonald ‘J. Mack”

AUSTIN — Rev. Johnnie Ray McDonald “J. Mack”, crossed over into eternal peace at his home in Austin, Texas on Wednesday, October 22, 2009 after a brief illness. He was born in Galveston, Texas to the union of George W. McDonald Jr. and Totsie McDonald. He was baptized at McKinney Memorial United Methodist Church as a child Graduated from La Marque High School in 1974. He joined the United States Air Force and served on both active and reserve duty for 25 years until he retired in November 2007. He also attended Huston-Tillotson University where he majored in Criminal Justice and became a faithful member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. In 1980, Johnnie became a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as an Associate Minister until his death. He was also employed by the Internal Revenue Service for 24 years.
Johnnie is survived by his wife of almost 16 years, Neta Harris McDonald; his parents, of Texas City, Texas; three sisters Beverly Martin and LaVerie Wise Houston, Texas and Marilyn Calloway of Richmond, Texas; two brothers George W. McDonald III of Plano, Texas and Robert D. McDonald of Austin, Texas, many nieces and nephews as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Final interment will be at the Killeen VA Cemetery in Killeen, Texas, where Johnnie will be buried with Military Honors.
