The Sixth annual Daughters of God Conference will begin at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 24 at Galveston’s Macedonia Baptist Church, 2920 M½. The conference for mothers and daughters focuses on the growth of Christian women.
“Because a high percentage of the U.S. population consists of teens and young adults, what we do — or fail to do — over the next five years will impact our world for the next five decades,” organizer Yvette McIntosh said. “We have been given a tremendous challenge, and an even greater opportunity, to lay a foundation of generational blessings globally. How will you maximize this opportunity? How will you bless the next generation? How will you create a lasting family legacy with the help of a loving God?”
Registration is required and is open to those 10 and older.

St. George’s Episcopal Church in Texas City will celebrate a quarter century in its building, 510 13th Ave. N., at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 4. The congregation’s previous sanctuary burned in 1983.
Members collected small pieces of the shattered stained glass windows from the church lawn.
The fragments will be on display at the event.
“Our parish began in 1913, just two years after the city itself was founded in 1911,” the Rev. Lillian Hyde, rector of St. George’s, said.
“We’re trying to get in touch with past members and hoping that they will come back and join us.”
The Right Rev. Andy Doyle, bishop of Texas, will attend the celebration. For details, call 409-945-2583.
