Daily News, KTRH agree to news partnership

The Galveston County Daily News and radio station KTRH-AM 740 announced a news partnership that will offer Galveston County residents vital local news updates in times of emergency.
The partnership, similar to one The Daily News has with television station KHOU-TV Channel 11, allows the newspaper to expand its news delivery beyond the print and Web editions.
Under the agreement, The Daily News and KTRH will share news stories daily and in times of emergencies, especially during hurricanes. Daily News staff members also will provide updates to KTRH listeners. As part of the partnership, Daily News reporters will occasionally go on the air with KTRH anchors to discuss Galveston County news topics.
Because of KTRHs designation as the regions official emergency alert system radio station and a signal strength that can reach as far as Austin, the partnership is especially important during times of evacuations when Galveston County residents may be on the road or unable to access the print and online editions of The Daily News at galvnews.com.
We are excited about partnering with such a heritage newspaper and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship, KTRH Program Director Bryan Erickson said. Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas has long called KTRH Galvestons radio station, and we look forward to better serving the residents of Galveston County, especially during the coming hurricane season, through this new partnership.
