The volleyball postseason is approaching the end of its second week, and five Galveston County teams still are alive to begin week No. 3.
The county is guaranteed at least one team in the next round with Dickinson and Friendswood meeting in a Class 4A regional quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Friday at Clear Brook High School. Defending regional champion Friendswood won both regular season meetings on its way to the District 23-4A title.
Santa Fe gives that district three of the eight teams still alive in Region III. The Lady Indians will play Katy Seven Lakes at Pearland High School. The teams have not agree on a day. It will be either Friday night or Saturday afternoon.
Clear Creek is the county’s lone 5A team remaining. The Wildcats will play a second-round match against Deer Park at Pasadena Dobie High School at 6:30 p.m. Friday. They are seeking their third-straight trip to the regional quarterfinals.
Dickinson’s Pine Drive Christian School won a home match Tuesday night and has advanced to the regional quarterfinals of the TAPPS-2A bracket. Pine Drive will play Conroe Covenant Christian School at Tomball Concordia at noon Saturday.
