TEXAS CITY — The motto and theme of Willing Workers Baptist Church is “The church that’s not seeking the ‘lost’ is lost.” The church, which has been serving the Texas City-La Marque area since April 2008, will move into a new building, 801 29th St. N., in Texas City on Sunday.
The church, which has been worshipping at the Showboat Pavilion on Fifth Avenue for the past year, also has a campus in Houston. The church had its first Bible study June 10, 2008.
“We were planning on buying another church, but the deal didn’t go through,” the Rev. James C. Carrington Jr. said. “I saw that the church on 29th Street was vacant, so I inquired about it — made a proposal — and the owner took my offer.”
The church has many ministries, including a youth and puppet ministry, Men of Standard, Women of Excellence, street ministry, bus ministry, Senior Saints ministry, singles ministry and home care ministry.
The Rev. Eric Anderson, Carrington’s assistant, has been a member of Willing Workers for 13 years.
“God has been faithful to our church,” Anderson said. “It gives me great joy to see the excitement of the members and how Rev. Carrington’s vision has come to pass.”
Twyla Isaac, who is the worship art director and the public relations and transportation coordinator, said she is on a “spiritual high” about the new church in Texas City.
“Pastor Carrington and the members of both locations are excited about the celebration on Sunday,” Isaac said. “God is rewarding Pastor Carrington’s obedience and faithfulness.”
The church is inviting the public to the celebration Sunday.
“Willing Workers is a church were everybody is somebody,” Carrington said. “There are no big you’s or little I’s.”
