High Five: For those who missed the latest serving of Buzz Blog, Five Guys Burgers and Fries is planning a League City eatery. Arlington, Va.-based Five Guys plans to lease 2,500 square feet of space in Victory Lakes Town Center, northeast corner of Interstate 45 and FM 646.
Five Guys, which started in 1986, began turning up the heat in the burger scene this year, announcing plans to open 50 restaurants in the Houston area market, according to reports.
Brandi Dees of CB Richard Ellis represented Five Guys in the lease transaction. Heather Nguyen of NewQuest Properties represented the landlord.
Five Guys also is planning an eatery in Nassau Bay Town Square, a 31-acre development at the intersection of NASA Parkway and Saturn Lane.
Five Guys, which boasts nearly 400 restaurants in 25 states, is best known for juicy burgers with unlimited toppings. But foodies also rave about the hot dogs. Want to talk about it? Visit Buzz Blog at galvnews.com.

Seeing green: Island residents and visitors might have seen the red Junkit Mobile Dumpsters around town. Soon, they’ll be seeing green as well.
Junkit Mobile Dumpsters is launching its latest service, which provides receptacles at constructions sites for recyclable materials, such as wood and metal.
The client fills the receptacle and Junkit Mobile Dumpsters retrieves it and takes materials to appropriate recycling centers. Owner Damien Patrick also happens to be a board member of the island branch of the U.S. Green Building Council. For information about the green Dumpsters, call toll-free 866-996-6314.
Setting the table: Readers are hungry for status reports on Shy KatZ Place, a cafe serving baked goods, breakfast and lunch planned for 2028 Broadway on the island. Owners Kat Kearns and Shy Leger are aiming to open sometime next month if all goes as planned.
The women plan to use old family recipes and hope to create a place where everyone knows everyone’s name, they say.
Shy KatZ Place also will serve up such fare as burgers and also will carry deli foods. Initially, the women planned to open Shy KatZ in September. But construction timelines, as everyone learns, are hard to predict. Stay tuned.
