Show takes a look at isle’s bathhouses

KTBU-TV’s weekly series “Postcards from Texas” will feature a segment on the Galveston bathhouse boom of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The show will air at 1:30 p.m. today on Channel 55.
Galveston began developing its beaches to attract tourists in the 1880s, and bathhouses opened along the coast to provide “bathers” with rental bathing suits, dressing rooms and showers. After the 1900 Storm, bathhouses like The Breakers, The Surf and Murdoch’s developed along the seawall.
