Charley E. Boatman
Charley E. Boatman was released into the hands of the Lord by Dolores, his loving wife of sixty-five years, on Friday November 6, 2009. He was born on August 25, 1926, in Dayton, Texas, to Charley Edgar and Lela Jacobs Boatman. Charley served in the U.S. Army Air Borne Division during WWII and was a member of the VFW in Santa Fe, Texas.
Charley’s grandkids called him “Paw Paw, the Chief Engineer.” There was nothing he could not accomplish. He built Rush N Grocery, a shrimp boat, numerous houses, small airplanes and anything else he attempted. He was truly a “Jack of all Trades.”

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Evelyn Haney.
Visitation will be on Sunday November 8, 2009, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Monday November 9, 2009, in the Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. with Pastor Doug McBrayer officiating and internment to follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas.
Pallbearers are Ray Elfstrom, Glenn Simon, Todd Elfstrom, David Bardwell, Tim Pickett and Richie DeLaCerda. Honorary pallbearers will be brothers-in-law Duncan Aker and Herbert Townsend.
