Morgan Elementary School Now A Recognized Campus
GALVESTON — The state accountability rating assigned to L.A. Morgan Elementary School improved to recognized after Galveston public school district officials successfully appealed a lower rating of acceptable.
The elementary school was rated acceptable because one subpopulation failed on one test to meet the standards for a recognized rating — the second highest in the state’s system.
The new rating means the district now has three recognized elementary schools.
The school’s teary-eyed principal told trustees last week she was pleased and proud of the accomplishment.
“We were almost a low-performing school five years ago,” she said. “We are so excited and we are very pleased and proud. We set our goals five years ago to be exemplary, and we’re on that road.”
