TEXAS CITY — No one was injured during an apartment complex shooting, but police are asking for the public’s help in finding a robbery suspect, authorities said Friday.
Officers arrived about 6:15 p.m. Thursday at The Oaks, 8601 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, and spoke to a man who said he was robbed at gunpoint, Sgt. Joe Stanton, a Texas City police spokesman, said.
The victim went to the complex to give a friend a ride.
The gunman approached, ordering him to hand over everything he had, Stanton said.
The victim stepped from his car and confronted the man, Stanton said.
“The suspect then ran from the vehicle and fired two shots at the victim from a handgun,” Stanton said.
The victim ran and called police.
He returned to find his car missing and reported the tan 1998 Toyota Camry stolen, Stanton said.
The Camry’s license plate is PDX177, Stanton said.
Police described the man as black and between 20 and 25 years old.
He weighs between 130 and 150 pounds and wore a dark hooded top and dark pants, Stanton said.
Stanton asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 409-945-8477.
There is a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect, Stanton said.
