Several Texas City area churches are collecting canned and nonperishable food items for the annual feast, which will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Our Lady of Fatima, 1600 Ninth Ave. N., in Texas City.
Items can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to noon at St. Johns, St. George’s, First United Methodist, First Presbyterian, First Baptist, Memorial Lutheran, St. Mary’s and The Fellowship churches.

The traditional Thanksgiving meal will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today on the third floor of the Salvation Army, 2228 Broadway, in Galveston.
The meal is offered to the homeless and needy families.
