Daily News to offer local hotel reservations

GALVESTON — The Daily News is launching a new hotel reservations service in partnership with galveston.com, offering bookings for hotels in Galveston, Texas City, Kemah and the Bay Area.
Readers can access the service by visiting the newspaper’s site at galvnews.com. Reservations can be made from the front page of the site or from within the site’s travel section.
A toll-free reservations hot line also is available at 866-553-6676.
President and Publisher Dolph Tillotson said the newspaper is excited to be able to add the feature to its online offerings.
“We know it will enhance service to readers, and it will help to bring more visitors to Galveston at a time when our community needs every tourist we can bring here,” Tillotson said. “We also think this strengthens the growing partnership we’re developing with galveston.com, and we’re happy to see that partnership grow.”
Late last year, The Daily News became the primary provider of news updates to galveston.com, owned by Galveston.com & Co.
The tourism-driven galveston.com began providing an expanded online calendar of events for The Daily News site at the same time.
The deal also will extend the use of galveston.com’s DestinationNext service to sister newspapers of The Daily News within Southern Newspapers Inc.
