Mary Ellen Shaw
GALVESTON — Mary Ellen Shaw died on Tuesday November 3, 2009, at the Grace Care Center in Katy, Texas. Mrs. Shaw was born in Galveston, Texas, on October 25, 1916, to Hugh and Emma Lera Rooney. She resided in Galveston until the last fifteen months of her life and worked as a commercial statistician for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers until her retirement in 1975.
Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her parents; one brother William C. Crager; and her husband Mory C. Shaw.
She is survived by her daughter Phyllis Kingsbury and her husband Joseph of Beaumont; son William E. Glad and his wife Suzanne Berberet of St. Joseph, Michigan; son George L. Shaw and wife Debbie of Austin; four grandchildren Dylan Glad and wife Stephanie Glad, Kevin Shaw, Freddy Kingsbury and Kate Glad; and one great-grandchild Aidan Glad.
Visitation will be held on Sunday November 8, 2009, at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m., with a Rosary to begin at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday November 9, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father E.J. Stein officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery.
