GALVESTON — Read five and decide is the encouraging pitch of this year’s Texas Library Association’s Bluebonnet Committee.
Each year, the committee of public and school librarians prepares a master list of 20 well-written children’s books.
The list is comprised of a variety of genres and is suitable reading for third- through sixth-graders.
The goal of the program is to get children to read a variety of current literature and enabling them to identify a favorite.
Children are invited to participate by checking out Bluebonnet Books from the library.
Children can cast their vote for their favorite at the Rosenberg Library, 2310 Sealy Ave., if their school isn’t participating in the program and holding its own election.
Participants must read — or have heard read aloud — at least five books from the list to vote.
Ballots can be obtained at the library and must be turned in by Jan. 22.
Call 409-763-8854, Ext. 135 or visit rosenberg-library.org.
