Four Galveston County football teams are still alive in the University Interscholastic League football playoffs.
Clear Springs, Dickinson, Friendswood and Hitchcock will play their next playoff games on Saturday.
Springs (9-2) will take on Pasadena Memorial at The Rig in Pearland at 6 p.m. Saturday. Pasadena Memorial (9-2) finished the regular season as co-champs of District 22-5A with Pearland.
Springs won a thrilling, 28-26, contest against Fort Bend Elkins to advance. It was also the Chargers’ first ever playoff win.
Dickinson (7-4) will travel to La Porte to take on the Bulldogs at 2 p.m. Saturday. La Porte (7-3) was a regional finalist last year and finished third in 22-5A this season.
Dickinson needed a late comeback to defeat Fort Bend Willowridge, 22-19, on Saturday. It’s the second year in a row that the Gators have won a postseason contest.
Friendswood (8-3) takes on Houston Wheatley at 7 p.m. at Galena Park ISD Stadium. Wheatley (7-3) finished tied for second in District 22-4A this season.
Friendswood rolled past Lamar Consolidated with a 36-20 win in the first round Friday. The Mustangs are three wins away from repeating as Region III-4A champs.
Hitchcock (5-4) will play in El Campo for the second straight week. The Bulldogs face George West at 2 p.m. Saturday. George West (11-0) eliminated Hitchcock last season.
Hitchcock set up the rematch with a 49-35 win over Taft on Saturday.
