Mission Galveston-Texas City will start off the annual round of charitable Thanksgiving feasts this year at 11:30 to 1 p.m. today at 801 Martin Luther King Blvd. in Texas City.
This will be followed by the Galveston edition from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 822 Tremont St.
“This is Mission Galveston’s 10th annual communitywide Thanksgiving lunch, and it is free for the homeless and for low-income families,” Raju Samuel, who directs the missions. said.
Though Samuel has enough volunteers for the dinner, he’s still looking for help with supplies.
“We could really use donations of bluejeans, socks, T-shirts and toiletries, as well as canned food, fruit cups and cookies,” he said.

“If you know someone who will be alone, or someone who needs to have a blessed time with their family, let them know that we are serving 500 people at noon on Thanksgiving Day,” Chaney said. “Folks are welcome to help with the food preparations or service, or simply to come and enjoy the wonderful meal.”
The church is at 14550 state Highway 3. For details, call 281-224-7800.
