Daily News resumes delivery
From staff reports
The Daily News
Published September 26, 2005
The Galveston County Daily News will deliver and sell its first printed editions of the newspaper since mandatory evacuation of the county took place last week in advance of Hurricane Rita.
The Daily News continued to publish its coverage of the storm’s impact on the county through its website Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The newspaper also printed editions of the newspaper at a sister publication elsewhere in the state and stored those papers in a warehouse.
The first edition of the Daily News will be delivered Monday. That edition will include the Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday editions of the newspaper as well.
Because many of the newspaper’s delivery staff is spread out across the state due to the evacuation order, home delivery of the newspaper will be limited. However, the Daily News will have newspapers available for pickup at various locations across the county as well as in its newspaper racks.
The Daily News will have staff distributing the newspaper at the Lowe’s Hardware Store in Texas City, Home Depot in Galveston and at all Galveston County Kroger locations.
Staff will be onsite to provide subscribers their newspaper from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Daily News may have to repeat this delivery method Tuesday as we wait for staff to return to the county.
