Anglers fishing the north shorelines of both East and West bays found action on all of the big three. Flounder, reds and trout were hitting a variety of baits in shallow waters early in the day Tuesday.
Cold Pass was another area producing flounder and reds, while Greens Lake produced a few reds for anglers fishing the upper reaches.
Mike Watson, of Conroe, along with David Mooring, of Spring, wade fished and drifted the shoreline of East Bay on both sides of Robinson Bayou and landed eight specks, four slot reds that were culled out of a number of smaller reds and a single flounder.
Watson said the bird action had been good in that area before the effects of Hurricane Ida.
She Dogs, Red Shad Saltwater Assassins and Coho Minnows were the baits that worked. All of the fish were caught before 9 a.m.
Sammy Soliz and a friend fished the north shoreline of West Bay from the Harborwalk channel to the range marker and landed five slot reds and two specks. Gold spoons and soft plastics were their choices of baits.
Cold Pass has been a good spot to find flounder lately.
Fishing the edge of Mud Island along the pass, Anthony Graham, Todd Moore and Blake Henderson caught five flounder, one shy of a limit, using fingerling mullet for bait.
Patrick Monahan, of Tiki Island, fished the far end of Greens Lake on Tuesday and caught two slot reds using live shrimp fished under a popping cork.
There are lots of small reds in the area, according to Monahan. One other angler was fishing nearby and catching reds as well.
Ken and Sherry Olanyk, of League City, fished Clear Lake on Tuesday and landed six black drum, croakers, one red and a toadfish.
