Mainland communities will begin regular trash pickups this week while city officials make plans for heavy trash pickup dates.
League City plans to pick up trash on Monday, said Mayor Jerry Shultz. However, those plans could change depending on how many sanitation employees report to work.
The city is making plans to pick up tree limbs and other large materials, Shultz said. Officials are also making plans to set up centers throughout the city for residents to drop off their larger trash items.
There are no set dates for these services, he said.
Texas City will also begin trash services on Monday, said Mayor Matt Doyle. The city is planning to move through the city a section at a time beginning Monday to pickup large trash. Doyle said residents can also drop off their brush and other large trash items at the Biosphere Recycle Center, 3301 Loop 197 N.
Trash pickup in La Marque will resume as scheduled this week, said Mayor Larry Crow. Residents should call city hall at (409) 938-9200.
Officials from Hitchcock and Santa Fe said trash pickup services would resume on Wednesday.
Dickinson City Administrator Ivan Langford said the city would start regular pickup again on Tuesday. Heavy trash pickup would begin on Friday.
Langford asked citizens to no put spoiled food onto the curb until the day of trash pickup and to double or triple bag the food. This would cut down on the health risks, he said.
