GALVESTON — Deputy City Manger Brandon Wade is a finalist for the post of city manager in Pflugerville, a suburb northeast of Austin.
Although he loves Galveston, the Pflugerville job was hard to resist, Wade said.
“I’m not looking to move, but any time anyone offers substantially more money than you’re making now, you have to at least examine the prospect,” he said.
Wade makes about $120,000 a year.
Waters-Oldani Executive Recruitment, the company conducting the job search for Pflugerville, selected Wade, Paul Hofmann, of Kerrville, and Steven Norwood, of Prescott, Ariz., from 89 applicants.
Pflugerville’s city council could make an offer to the selected candidate by next week, Wade said.
If he is lucky enough to be chosen, it’s not guaranteed he’ll take the job, Wade said. Pflugerville’s new manager will start work in early 2010, according to a statement released by the city Wednesday.
Wade has been in Galveston since 1999.
