Game Wardens Move ’Gators From Homes
GALVESTON — Game wardens patrolling Bolivar Peninsula since Friday have moved three alligators away from homes.
They’ve also removed 22 stuck vehicles, turned over 20 firearms to Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and helped arrest looters.

New Recovery Center Opens On Island
GALVESTON — Another Federal Emergency Management Agency/State Disaster Recovery Center is open in Galveston County to provide face-to-face assistance to those who suffered damage from Hurricane Ike.
The DRC is located at the Galveston Island Community Center, 4700 Broadway, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

Free Flu Shots Available At Mall
TEXAS CITY — Free flu shots will be available at the Mall of the Mainland on Oct. 10. The shots are available to anyone at no obligation, but it is preferred that interested people call 866-547-3063.

Justice Resource Center On Broadway
GALVESTON — A resource center for businesses at the Galveston County Criminal Justice Center on Broadway, in the same area as the City of Galveston Planning/Permitting Department, has been set up on the island.

Free Clean-up Supplies At Ball High
GALVESTON — Free re-entry kits and supplies that include disposable face masks to guard against mold allergies, ice chests, buckets and mops will be distributed to Galveston residents today at the Ball High School student parking lot, 4115 Ave. O from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

D’Feet Run Canceled
GALVESTON — The D’Feet run, originally scheduled for Oct. 18 at Moody Gardens, has been officially canceled.
Race organizers will still give all those who preregistered a T-shirt, letter from D’Feet, a certificate of appreciation for their donation and some breast cancer M&M’s courtesy of Kroger.
