Taylor Jane Betancourt Weds Zachary Bruce Williams
Taylor Jane Betancourt and Zachary Bruce Williams were united in marriage on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at eleven o’clock in the morning at First Lutheran Church in Galveston, Texas. Reverend Douglas Guthier led the intimate double ring ceremony, and Taylor’s parents hosted a luncheon and reception for close family and friends at Shearn’s Restaurant at the Moody Gardens Hotel. On Friday evening, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Gaido’s Restaurant. The bride’s parents will also host a more informal celebration of the wedding on July 18, 2009 at the Shamrock Ranch in Santa Fe, Texas.
The bride is the daughter of Joe and Keli Betancourt of Dickinson. She is the granddaughter of Ray E. Schaper and the late Jane Schaper of Galveston and Manuel and Suzette Betancourt of Santa Fe.
The groom is the son of Maggie and John Kelso of Galveston and Wade and Stephanie Williams of League City. He is the grandson of Mrs. Sandy Williams of League City and the late Mr. Calvin Williams as well as the late David and Anne Field of Enid, Oklahoma.
Katherine Keli Betancourt (Kati), sister of the bride, served as maid of honor, and Field Williams, brother of the groom, served as best man. Best friend of the bride, Kimberly Arnold of Dickinson, read a special poem, “I Carry Your Heart with Me,” by E.E. Cummings; Joanie Kelso, sister of the groom from Galveston read a passage from the Bible; and Grace Williams, sister of the groom from League City served as a greeter. Ushers were Beau Yarbrough of Galveston, best friend of the groom; John Kelso, Jr., of San Angelo; Scott Kelso of Galveston; and Luke Kelso of Galveston, all brothers of the groom. Michael Moore, classical guitarist and uncle of the bride of Corpus Christi provided the music during the service.
Taylor is a 2003 graduate of Dickinson High School and a 2007 graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station. She is a third grade teacher at Roosevelt-Wilson Elementary School in Texas City.
Zach is a 2003 graduate of Ball High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of Texas in Austin. Zach earned a civil engineering degree, and he serves as Project Manager at J.W. Kelso Company in Galveston.
After enjoying a weeklong honeymoon at the Sandals Grande Resort in Antigua, the newlyweds will reside in Galveston.
