Kingwood Park 52, Clear Springs 37
Terry Bourgeois (17 points) and Anthony Horton (13) were the only ones able to generate consistent offense as Springs dropped its season opener.

La Marque 71, Fort Bend Bush 67
Julien Lewis hit a 3-pointer with four seconds left to give No. 12 La Marque an opening night victory.
The Cougars actually trailed by eight with 2:30 left and coach Cedric Mason called a timeout.
Two free throws cut the lead to six and Darrian Johnson (16 points) hit two 3-pointers after two consecutive steals and a turnover by Bush. That set up Lewis, who finished with 16. Wesley Henderson added 12.
Santa Fe 53, Houston Scarborough 48
Travis Myers led Santa Fe with 13 points. Kevin Hackiemeck added nine points, Justin Brown eight points and Marc Silva and Conrad Tenhaaf seven points apiece.

Galena Park 57, Texas City 55
The Stings let a 3-point lead slip away in the fourth quarter.
Isaiah Matthews had 14 points, and Marcus Williams led with 15. Matthew Calhoun stole the show for Galena Park, especially in the fourth, with 22 points.

Dickinson 47, Nimitz 45
The Lady Gators claimed victory against the defending Class 5A state runners-up.
Brittany Simmons led Dickinson (2-0 record) with 23 points, while Porchea Nunn scored 10.

La Marque 53, Ball 35
The Lady Cougars rolled to victory over their archrivals.
Jalessa Allen (16 points), Courtney Randle (15) and Jessieka Palmer (12) each scored in double-figures for La Marque.
Also scoring for the Lady Cougars were Precious Payne with five, Kiani Promise four, Jaselyn Callis three, Brianna Lewis three, Shaquala Roberson two, Michael Hurst two and Shawntae Arthur one.

The Lady Wildcats jumped out to a 30-24 first half lead and hung on for the victory against the Fort Bend program.
Nyha Carter led Creek (3-0) with 16 points, while Kaylin Dugie added 13.

A 19-point third quarter explosion led the Lady Chargers to victory.
Aaliyah Brown scored 27 points, while Jo Ann Lira added 12 for Springs (2-0).

Friendswood 55, La Porte 20
The Lady Mustangs rolled to the blowout victory on Monday.
Freshman Jillian Bergeson led the way with 11 points, five rebounds and five steals for Friendswood (4-1).
Annalisa Hall had 10 points, eight assists and eight steals, Kellsey Kaufhold had 10 points, eight rebounds and five steals, and Lindsey Landers had 10 rebounds and four points.

A late comeback fell short for the Lady Stings.
Moneisha Williams led Texas City with 15 points. Shelby Richardson (12) and Ashley Artis (11) also scored for the Lady Stings.
