Kent-Vickers
Polly Kendra Kent and Brannon Dean Vickers were united in Marriage on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at six o’clock in the evening at Moody Methodist Church in Galveston, Texas. Senior Pastor, the Reverend Bert Bagley led the double ring ceremony, which was followed by a reception with dinner and dancing at the Hotel Galvez, with entertainment provided by Creative Music. On Friday, family friend, Mary Smelker hosted the Bridal Luncheon in her beautiful historic home on the island, and Friday evening, the groom’s parents, Sherry and Jackie Vickers, hosted the Rehearsal Dinner at the Pelican Club in Galveston.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Joseph “Capt. Joe” Kent of Galveston, Texas. Kendra is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Murray Emmett Cox of Dallas, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Bartis William Kent of Houston, Texas. Very special family members escorted down the aisle included Dr. Anna Dewald, Aunt of the Bride, and Drs. Ann and Bartis Kent, Aunt and Uncle of the Bride.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Vickers of Sylacauga, Alabama. Brannon is the grandson of Mrs. Hicksie Vickers (In Absentia) and the late Mr. D. S. Vickers of Childersburg, Alabama and Mr. and Mrs. Otis Gallman of Sylacauga, Alabama.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the Bride selected an ivory gown of organza and beaded lace.
Bridesmaids were Heather Freeman of Greenville, South Carolina, Ashley Ketz of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Jennifer Marshall of Austin, Texas, Brandi Vickers, sister of the groom, of Sylacauga, Alabama and Amy Walters of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Groomsmen were Brent Milam of Sylacauga, Alabama, Chad Milam of Sylacauga, Alabama, Gabe Sumners of Birmingham, Alabama and Jackie Vickers, father of the groom, of Sylacauga, Alabama.
Ushers were Todd Northington of Madison, Wisconsin, Billy Triplett of Lexington, Kentucky and Aaron Nolan of Little Rock, Arkansas.
The Vocal Soloist during the ceremony was Katie Ferrier of Madison, Wisconsin. Providing a reading during the service was Mary Katherine Triplett of Lexington, Kentucky. Special attendant to the Bride was Elissia Wilson of Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
Kendra is a 1999 graduate of Episcopal High School in Houston and a 2003 cum laude graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. She is a member of Chi Omega Sorority.
Kendra also is a 2006 graduate of Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi, holding a Masters Degree in Geosciences, with a concentration in Broadcast Meteorology. Kendra is Chief Meteorologist for WHNS Fox Carolina, the Fox Television affiliate in the Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina and Asheville, North Carolina areas.
Brannon is a 1998 graduate of B. B. Comer High School in Sylacauga, Alabama and a 2005 graduate of Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Geosciences, with a concentration in Broadcast Meteorology. Brannon currently is employed by SunTrust Bank in Greenville, South Carolina and is pursuing post-graduate studies in web design.
Mr. and Mrs. Vickers are planning a honeymoon for later in the year. They will reside in Greenville, South Carolina with their Siamese cat, Bufkit.
