Guidry leads Wildcats past Yellowjackets

ALVIN — The Clear Creek High School football team put itself in prime position to earn a playoff berth Friday night with a 28-14 victory over host Alvin.
The Wildcats (4-5, 3-2 District 24-5A) got two rushing touchdowns from Michael Guidry. His second came with 11 minutes, 35 seconds to go in the fourth quarter and was the only score of the second half. His first came less than two minutes into the game.
Alvin (0-10, 0-6) tied it less than three minutes later. Michael Thomas returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown to give Clear Creek the lead for good less than two minutes into the second quarter. Quarterback Neal Warden, who passed for 105 yards, scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter to give Clear Creek a 21-7 lead.
• Brazosport 31, Santa Fe 6: Host Brazosport scored three unanswered touchdowns in the second half to pull away from Santa Fe (1-8, 0-5 District 23-4A). Bryan Russel’s 2-yard touchdown run with 4:29 left in the third quarter got Santa Fe to within four points at 10-6. Brazosport (4-5, 1-4) scored its three touchdowns in a nine-minute span covering the third and fourth quarters. Santa Fe quarterback Justin Sumrall completed 1-of-14 passes but rushed 25 times for 139 yards.
• Hitchcock 26, Danbury 14: Morris Tuck passed for 233 yards and three touchdowns to help visiting Hitchcock clinch at least a share of the District 27-2A title. His completed two touchdown passes to Jordan Turner. The second came with 4 minutes, 8 seconds left in the game to give the Bulldogs (8-1, 4-0) breathing room. Turner caught four passes for 84 yards and rushed seven times for 70 yards. Darius Dotson rushed nine times for 105 yards, and Devante Provost caught four passes for 79 yards and one touchdown.
• Bay Area Christian 35, St. Paul 7: Visiting Bay Area Chrisitan (9-0) got two rushing touchdowns apiece from Alex Hooper and Austin Kennedy in Friday’s non-district game. Hooper rushed 24 times for 201 yards. Karlis Ercums scored on an 80-yard touchdown run.
• Baytown Christian 47, O’Connell 32: The loss eliminated host O’Connell from playoff contention. Robert LaPorte rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns. Ethan Sigalas scored two rushing touchdowns. O’Connell (5-5, 3-3 District 3-4A) plays its season finale on Friday against Hull-Daisetta at Weis Middle School.
