KEMAH — The driver responsible for a three-car crash that killed himself and two others May 8 had a blood-alcohol level within the legal limit, authorities said Friday.
Autopsy results revealed that Mario Lopez-Reyes, 37, had a blood-alcohol level of less than .08 percent, Kemah Assistant Police Chief Greg Rikard said.
Lopez-Reyes’ car entered oncoming traffic at state highways 146 and 96, killing two sisters from Texas City, Stephanie Marie Hann, 26, and Monica Montez Morris, 30.
Lopez-Reyes died at a Houston hospital, while both women died at the scene.

Police: Hidden Stop Sign Factor In Crash
GALVESTON — A stop sign hidden by a camper parked on a city street contributed to a three-car collision Friday, but no one was injured, authorities said.
An van traveling south on 12th Street ran a two-way stop and collided with another van traveling west on Avenue M. One of the vans then struck a parked sport utility vehicle, police said.
The camper obstructed the stop sign halting traffic traveling south on 12th Street. An officer cited the owner of the camper, and said it should be moved Friday evening.

TEXAS CITY — Twelve families were temporarily displaced Friday by a fire at an apartment complex.
The early morning blaze was believed to have burned only one unit, but a woman who answered the phone at the managers’ office of Velami Apartments, 2902 Texas Ave., said residents could return Monday when electricity was expected to be restored.
Firefighters who came on shift after the blaze and the woman, who didn’t give her name, said no one was injured. Further details weren’t immediately available.
