Fishing: The Reel Report By Capt. Joe Kent Many Galveston area fishermen have said this May has been one of the best in recent memory. May 21, 2012 Saturday, the wind picked up; however, the surf remained in good shape with green water all the way to the beach. May 20, 2012 Outstanding conditions for fishing continue to prevail around the Galveston Bay complex. May 19, 2012 Near-perfect conditions prevail across the Galveston Bay complex, and fishing is bordering on being red hot. May 18, 2012 If excellent conditions prevail this weekend, Capt. Joe Kent predicts offshore fishing is going to be outstanding, especially for king and ling. May 17, 2012 Early Tuesday, conditions were excellent and at least two anglers took advantage of the green surf along the beach front May 16, 2012 From the looks of things, action really picked up following the passage of the stormy weather. May 15, 2012 Sunday started out with a chilling north wind with slow action in the early morning. May 14, 2012 Early Saturday, very heavy rainfall hit the Galveston area and with the accompanying wind, thunder and lightning, not much was happening early in the day. May 13, 2012 Before the unsettled weather moved in, fishing was going great. May 12, 2012 A moderate to strong east wind prevailed most of Thursday, and when the wind is out of that direction, fishing usually is slow. May 11, 2012 Tuesday evenings rain cooled things down around Galveston; however, it did not slow fishing. May 10, 2012 Tuesday morning, the surf was in excellent shape under a light north wind, and the fishing was outstanding. May 09, 2012 Fishing was spotty during the weekend. Anglers reported some good catches, while others barely took home enough fish for dinner.
