Vendors and pageant contestants needed
The Good Ole Days Festival and Pageant in Hitchcock is seeking vendors for the festival and contestants for the pageant. The festival will be from 5 p.m. to midnight Aug. 8 and 10 a.m. to midnight Aug. 9 at the festival grounds, 8300 state Highway 6 in Hitchcock. The Miss Good Ole Days pageant has four categories: Tiny Miss for ages 3 to 5, Little Miss for ages 6 to 9, Junior Miss for ages 10 to 12 and Miss Good Ole Days for girls in high school. Contestants must reside in Hitchcock or attend Hitchcock schools. Deadline for entering the pageant is July 31. Call 409-986-9224 or 409-986-7420.
M.I. Lewis food pantry needs drivers

Game playing sessions for teens
Helen Hall Library will sponsor “Game On,” a semiweekly gaming program for teens at 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through July 31 at the library, 100 W. Walker St., in League City. Free tickets are required and are distributed 15 minutes before the event. Miniature wargaming sessions will take place from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and will have eight participants per session. Video game sessions will be from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. A party game session will be from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. July 31. Kemah Boardwalk’s Rock the Dock
The ninth annual Kemah Boardwalk’s Rock the Dock concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays during the summer. Performing ’80s rock will be Radio Star. Kemah Boardwalk is at Sixth Street and Bradford Avenue in Kemah. Call 281-334-9880.
Galveston Island Pachyderm Club
The Galveston Island Pachyderm Club will meet at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at Gaido’s Restaurant, 3800 Seawall Blvd. Guest speaker will be Mark Guidry, Galveston County Health District. The public is invited and reservations are not required. Lunch is available for $13. Call 409-737-3901.
Library books available on Bolivar
Children on Bolivar Peninsula can check out books from Rosenberg Library on Thursdays at St. Matthew’s Methodist Church, 1312 Weeks, in High Island, where Galveston Independent School District provides summer meals through Aug. 15. The children can participate in the summer reading programs, keep logs of their reading and earn prizes for the books they read. Call 409-763-8854.

Helen Hall Library will have family events at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the library, 100 W. Walker St., in League City. Salute to Heroes reception
The fourth annual Salute to Heroes reception will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Crystal Ballroom of South Shore Resort, 2500 South Shore Blvd., in League City, in honor of those who have served or are serving in our armed forces. The event will raise scholarship money for the Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation benefiting Clear Creek Independent School District students. Tickets to the reception cost $25.
